How to become a pharmacy technician in California

  1. Have a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:
    • Hold an associate degree in pharmacy technology.
    • Completed a training course accredited by the board.
    • Graduated from a school of pharmacy recognized by the board.
    • PTCB Certification
  2. Pass background check
  3. Obtain a license from the California State Board: fill out license application, submit passport size photo, finger prints, and pay the license fee
