The US Department of Labor estimates the employment of pharmacy technicians to grow 20% through 2022 which is much faster than the average for all occupations. That's 70,700 more jobs between 2012 and 2022!

The healthcare industry is a very stable industry. This is because people will always need to see doctors and require medicine. The increased number of middle-aged and elderly people —who use more prescription drugs— will spur demand for pharmacy workers through 2022. In addition, as scientific advances lead to new drugs and as more people obtain prescription drug coverage, pharmacy workers will be needed in growing numbers. Job opportunities are expected to be good, especially for those with previous experience, formal training, or certification.
