How to become a pharmacy technician in Washington

  1. Apply for license with the Board: fill out application, pay license fee and complete background check
  2. Complete a Board-approved training program
  3. Pass a national pharmacy technician certification examination administered by a program accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)- the PTCB is NCCA approved
  4. Eight hours of Washington State pharmacy law study
  5. Four hours of education in the prevention, transmission and treatment of AIDS

Approved Pharmacy Technician Schools in Washington

The Washington Board of Pharmacy does not keep a list of approved pharmacy technician training programs. Instead, the Board has a list of certain requirements for training and requires the designated program director to sign a certification that the training meets the requirements.
