Rhode Island Pharmacy Technician Requirements
How to become a pharmacy technician in Rhode Island
Pharmacy Technician I:
- 18 years of age or older
- High-school graduate or the equivalent, or currently enrolled in a high school or vocational training program that awards such degree or certificate
- No convictions of any felony for violations involving controlled substances
- Currently enrolled in a Board-approved pharmacy technician training program which include:
- An employer-based Pharmacy Technician training program that includes theoretical and practical instruction as described by the Board
- Any other training program as approved by the Board
- Obtain license from the Board: fill out application and pay application fee
Pharmacy Technician II:
- 18 years of age or older
- High-school graduate or the equivalent, or currently enrolled in a high school or vocational training program that awards such degree or certificate
- No convictions of any felony for violations involving controlled substances
- Successful completion of PTCB or ExCPT Certification Examination
- Obtain license from the Board: fill out application and pay application fee
