Pharmacy Technician Trainee:

1. 16 years of age or older
2. High school diploma, GED or currently enrolled in high school
3. No drug related felony conviction
4. Register with the Board: fill out application and pay registration fee
5. Renew registration biennially
6. Pharmacy technician trainees are limited to no more than 1,000 hours of employment. Trainess must register for either Pharmacy Technician or Certified Pharmacy Technician to continue employment.

Pharmacy Technician:

1. 18 years of age or older
2. High school diploma, GED or currently enrolled in high school
3. No drug related felony conviction
4. Register with the Board: fill out application and pay registration fee
5. Renew registration biennially
6. Training Requirements, ONE of the following:
   • Successful completion of a Board-approved pharmacy technician training program by one of the following:
     1. A pharmacy technician training program accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists
     -OR-
     2. A pharmacy technician training program provided by a branch of the United States Armed Services or Public Health Service
     -OR-
     3. A Board-approved pharmacy technician training program
   -OR-
   • Successfully completed a minimum of 500 hours of employment as a pharmacy technician trainee
7. Passing score on ONE of the following:
   • A Board-approved pharmacy technician assessment examination administered by the employer or the employer’s agent
   -OR-
   • PTCB or NHA exam

Certified Pharmacy Technician

1. PTCB or NHA certification
2. Register with the Board: fill out application and pay registration fee
3. Renew registration biennially
